Stress is defined as the body’s reaction to any change that requires an adjustment or response. The body reacts to these changes with physical, emotional and mental responses. Anxiety, a sense of worry or nervousness, is one of the main emotional responses your body has when you are affected by a high stress lifestyle.
Emotional and physical signs of stress can show as anxiety, depression, chronic pain, memory and concentration problems, mood swings, headaches, low energy, insomnia, weakened immune system, and many more. Any single or combo of these conditions will heighten your sympathetic nervous system and keep you in a perpetual 'fight or flight' state, which your body cannot heal in. Only while you are in the parasympathetic nervous system or 'rest and digest', can you give your body a chance to combat these conditions.
Massage will stimulate the nerves and sensory receptors to activate the 'rest and digest' state and slow your body down. While your body is healing, your stress hormone (cortisol) will decrease which can lower the stress, anxiety and depression conditions. Other effects your body can notice are a boost in your immune system, improve sleep, reduce pain and inflammation, increase circulation and so much more.
Therapeutic Massage FAQs
You will need to undress completely for an Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage and you
will be covered securely the whole time. We will uncover only the part of the body
being worked as it is being worked. We prefer not to work around or over
clothing, but leave undies on if you have a good reason to. The therapist will
leave the room to give you complete privacy while you are undressing, getting on
and off the table, and redressing at the end of the session.
Prior to the massage, feel free to ask us any questions about the technique that
will be used in your session. Make sure you communicate any problem areas,
and what you truly want to accomplish during your session. Creating a clear plan
will help both of us!
During the massage, breathe and make yourself comfortable. We will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session. Many people just close their eyes and completely relax. Please communicate if/when you need more or less pressure, another blanket, or anything else relevant to the session.
If you have any questions and/or concerns regarding the session feel free to speak up right away so we can adjust and create an amazing experience for you.
After the massage, your therapist will advise a session plan and go over any concerns that they came across in the session.

Therapeutic massage therapy can help release chronic muscle tension and pain,

and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture,
and reduce blood pressure. It is also known to promote better sleep, improve
concentration, reduce anxiety and depression, and create an overall sense of
well-being.

Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage FAQs
During your session, you’ll relax into a massage table, just as you would do
during a traditional massage. Your therapist will stand on the table and hold onto
overhead bars for balance. Using bare feet, bodyweight and gravity you’ll
experience the dreamiest deep tissue work you have ever felt.
The main benefit is deeper pressure without the discomfort! By using body
weight and gravity, we are able to produce 3x more pressure then with hands-on
work. Ashiatsu also elongates muscles, decreases pain, improves posture, and
helps detoxify the body!
Yes, but due to the compressive nature of Ashiatsu barefoot massage, therapists
must take extra precaution with certain client conditions. This a just a hand full of
conditions that would be contraindicated for receiving an ashiatsu treatment:
Pregnancy or trying to conceive
High blood pressure
Recent injuries or surgeries
Contagious skin disorders
Compromised immune system
Acute liver or kidney disorders
Certain medications
Acute auto immune disorders
Recent surgical implants
Advanced Diabetes

Prenatal and Postpartum FAQs
It will help you feel good, hurt less, and sleep better. It helps relieve pain in the
back, neck, shoulders, hips, arms and hands, legs and feet. Overall, you'll be a
happier... and who doesn't want THAT?
No. Massage during a normal pregnancy is not harmful at all. Massage supports
a healthy pregnancy, and does not cause miscarriage or induce preterm labor. At
Kindred Circle Massage Therapy all of our therapist are certified in prenatal.
Same as your prenatal care visits! Once every 4 weeks up to week 27; every
other week up to week 36; weekly from week 36 on until you give birth. Many of
our clients come every other week or every week for the whole pregnancy, and
for four months postpartum.
Come back in within the first 10 days of giving birth. Bring baby with you. (Giant
maxi pads and leaky boobs welcome.) Then, every other week at least for the
first 16 weeks postpartum. It will CHANGE YOUR LIFE. Why? Because women
rarely prioritize self-care. Schedule motherhood around your massage
appointments and you will be a better, happier mother.
